A Clyde River Foundation initiative. Living in our river and learnt how invertebrates are linked to the health of the river ecosystem. We also learnt how to use microscopes. And we made caddis fly larvae out of pipe cleaners! As a direct result of the project, pupils from Chapelgreen and Twechar Primary schools were the first people in over a hundred years to see salmon in the Queenzie Burn and the Board Burn! I liked i.

Walton Angling Club was established in 1880 which makes it one of the oldest Angling Clubs in the River Clyde catchment area. We now have well over 100 members most of whom live locally. Leases are held with all the riparian landowners to ensure that members have free and unrestricted access to the rivers.

We walked a mile or so upstream until the shrubbery thinned out and fishing was possible but by this time Derek was soaking in sweat under his neoprene waders and so wee decided to call it a day and walk the rest of the way to Torrance.
